with just a bit of oxidation on the bronze finish

This is a vintage large

it is deep styled chawan used to keep the tea warm longer (see enlarged pictures)

Along with a century and a half old warm patina this chest remains in  fine condition

This suzuribako (portable calligraphy tansu) has three drawers, made of solid kiri wood (Paulownia). The metal hardware is hand forged iron. Suzuribako were used as portable accounting chests (the forerunner of the attache' case). Also known as a calligraphy chest as it housed an ink stone, brushes, ink stick, and paper. This chest still has its original warm century old patina. Made
