Tea Ceremony Chawan Tea Bowl Colorful Fower Paining on Porcelain Glaze 5" Red Weight = approxThis is a ceramic bowl known as a chawan (tea bowl) used in a Japanese chado (tea ceremony). It dates to the Taisho Era. Suitable more for the summer season its thin walls allow the tea to cool faster during the hot summer months. It has a deep clear signature of the potter. This chawan measures 5 1 2" wide at its widest by 3" tall. Having been in storage for 70 years it remains in fine condition.
