This is an earlyish work for Radford and quite different from his current output
I think originally I felt I’d just discover it was by a celebrated court artist of the day and pay off my mortgage but it’s clearly not as easy as Philip Mould makes it look
apart from the fashion of the sitter this would be impossible to date next to his work from the 1930s onwards
Sheffer’s work is presumably an illustration intended for publication in a mainstream magazine
