Once used either in a wealthy home or more likely by a Chinese apothecary, it would have held the various herbs and remedies used in Chinese medicine. The forty two small drawers are each divided into four sections by internal dividers, with each section used to hold a specific item. The front of each drawer is labelled to show the original
