この本は、写真家・吉川周作さんが浅草で展示をして（事務所とオルタナティブスペースは東京五輪のあとに神宮前から浅草に引っ越した）、そのアーカイブとしてつくった図録だ。展示は、「写真をどう定着させるか」に着眼点を置き、つまり「写真を各種のメディウムに適切に定着させること」それ自体がテーマとなっており、そのテーマをさらに「本というメディウムにどう定着させるのがよいのか」という入子構造のような問題をどうかたちにしたらよいのか、半年間くらいかけて話し合いながら制作した。(米山)
