Antique Japanese Taisho Era (c1920’s) Kiri Kodansu Personal Tansu 6 Drawer 24"W Tsutsugaki raw finishThis is an antique Japanese Taisho era (1912 1926) kiri kodansu (personal chest). Used for storing documents, money and other precious items it is made of solid Kiri wood (paulownia) front and case with all hand made copper hardware. Kodansu chest were a special piece used to store one's most valued items. Height = 19" Width = 24 Depth = 11. 5" This chest was well used and well loved and has a warm aged patina.
