The diminutive native of Palmarolle, Quebec was called up to Montreal in 1967 to replace the injured Gump Worsley, and ended up leading the team to the Stanley Cup Finals against Toronto, where Leafs coach, PunchImlach, famously referred to him as a Junior B goalie. The Leafs won that Cup but Vachon was a member of the Canadiens team that won the
