These tubes are made from thicker 18 gauge tubing rather than the very thin factory used 20g. Harder to dent, harder to bend and no more concern about the column drop crushing your steering tube. Since the wall thickness of the tubing is thicker, the bottom end of the tube is bored out to the original inside diameter in order for it to fit over the steering box.
