The soil here consists entirely of marl, a mixture of compacted clay and limestone. A pure finesse site and the foundation for Vajra's fame. Most of the vineyard was planted between 1949 and 1968. However, the Vajras also have a parcel that was planted as early as 1931. This is followed by a 20 month aging period
