AOP Côtes d’Auxerre
this is very rich and solidly structured
possesses the cool continental climate and fossil-strewn limestone soils that imbue Chardonnay with unique traits not found in any other Chardonnay wines - the portlandian limestone soils in Petit Chablis provide for wines of bracing refreshment while bearing the mark of the terroir: notes of lime
St. Julien Branaire Ducru, 4ème G.C.C, 1855 2016 pen Fruit is gently pressed64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot. Ruby rather than black, a breezy freshness supple and lithe and elegant. There's a rose petal freshness and delicacy, but no lack of drive and power of concentrated fruit under the pretty top notes. Quite intense and long. A very attractive wine which will probably be at an attractive price for this quality.
