Constructed of silvered copper with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon affixed to a parade mount with a magnetic metal core and white cotton twill reverse liner and horizontal pinback, consisting of a Cross Patte, the obverse with red enameled arms and a central red enameled disc overlaid by a silvered Hamburg coat of arms, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of FR VERDIENST IM KRIEGE
