The center of the star consists of a silver center plaque of two inter-linked gilded oak and laurel wreaths
The enamel suggests manufacture during the 1930s-40s and is possibly a replacement for a lost example

in silvered bronze and very fine quality black

France, Ii Restoration. A Légion D'honneur, Reduced Size, C.1820 Auction The center of the star(Ordre de la Lgion d'Honneur). Instituted in 1802. (1814 1830). In silver with blue, white and green enamels, both centrepieces in Gold, hallmarked with a fasces on the ring, measuring 26. 7 mm (w) x 44. 5 mm (h) inclusive of its crown and laterally pierced ball suspension, chipping evident in the green enamels in the leafing on the reverse, original ribbon, better than fine.
