The original Lake Charles Explorers were displaced when their grandstand burned to the ground that May, and on May 29 the franchise relocated 90 miles east to Jeanerette and rebranded as the Blues. They joined the brand new Class D Evangeline League (a circuit Cajun fans nicknamed the "Pepper Sauce League") and went on to win the 1935
