they were part of the first wave of Austin hardcore bands alongside Big Boys

as original guitarist Kirk Hammet left the band to join the incredibly famous Metallica before the debut was even recorded and a bootleg version of the album was widely circulated in the tape trading scene before the album's official release

The original goal of Equal Vision was to spread Krishna consciousness within the hardcore scene, and while the label strayed from that somewhat, the Fanzine & Journal explictly returned to it.
