We spent months travelling on a haphazard canoe and quickly realised that Antarctica was a little less welcoming than anticipated. We sat on a floating ice cube for days, surrounded by nothing but a single penguin and a whirling blizzard. We were reaching the cusp of hypothermia, when out of nowhere; a small Eskimo
