Greeting the eye is a sepia mourning scene, surrounded by a halo of natural split Pearls, symbolising tears and sorrow. The Mourning plinth reads 'Sacred to memory', and the reverse of the ring is inscribed 'Harriet Brown died 3rd July 1787 Agd 17 yrs. Douglas Brown died 2nd July 1787 Agd 19 Mos', a heartbreaking homage to two family members who died so
