Constructed of gilded bronze with enamel, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath surrounding a black enameled disc, overlaid by a Tyr rune, in turn bearing a mobile swastika set within a ring bearing a raised inscription of FR LEISTUNGEN IN DER H. J. (FOR MERIT IN THE H. J.), the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and flattened vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, stamped with a mark of B
