Instituted 10 July 1918 by Duke Carl Eduard. (1918 1919). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a raised rightward facing profile of Duke Carl Eduard, circumscribed by name and title, topped by a royal crown, the reverse with a Saxe Coburg and Gotha coat of arms, topped by an inscription of FUER VERDIENST (FOR MERIT), above an inscription of TREU UND
