(1834 1857 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a raised leftward facing profile of Grand Duke Carl Friedrich, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of DEM VERDIENSTE (FOR MERIT), within an oak leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 35. 57 mm in diameter, weighing 26. 7 grams
