MATTHEWS, Edward Autographs Singers Letters German bass-baritone (1904-1971)American baritone (1904 1954), created the role of Ignatius of Loyola in Virgil Thomson's opera Four Saints in Three Acts and most famously in 1935, Jake the fisherman in the original world premiere production of George Gershwin's Porgy and Bess. Signed photograph, shown as himself, inscribed, and dated in 1942. Size is 8 x 10 inches, several small creases and bends, otherwise in very good condition.
