Chile, Republic. An Order Of Merit, Grand Cross Star, C. 1950 GTRexclude The sides of the watch(Orden del Mrito). Instituted in 1906. 5th Period (1929 ). In silver gilt with red, white and blue enamels, measuring 71. 5 mm (w) x 73. 5 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual stays, intact enamels, centrepiece insignia slightly loose versus the base, extremely fine. Footnote: The Order of Merit was instituted on September 4, 1906 and awarded for meritorious service provided by foreigners to the Republic of Chile, in five grades.
