By shallowing the face height, PING's engineers were able to make it 9% thinner and, thus, more flexible than the previous model without jeopardizing its structural integrity, resulting in increased ball speed across the hitting surface. As an added benefit, the face's newly reduced dimensions save approximately 4g of weight per iron, which is strategically reallocated to lower the
