Constructed of silvered bronze with multi coloured enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross, the obverse with golden yellow enameled arms trimmed with black enameled border, bearing a central black enameled medallion, overlaid by a silvered inscription of SOMME 1914 1918, the twelve oclock arm topped by an integral loop retaining suspension rings, measuring the reverse six oclock arm maker marked FLECK & SOHN, HAMBURG, measuring 39. 64 mm
