Instituted 2 April 1939. (1939 1945 issue). Constructed of bronzed zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Patte with ribbed arms joined through the quadrants by stylized rays, the obverse bearing a central raised oak leaf wreath, overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central raised oak leaf
