Each side of the blade has an engraved gilt bust

On the far left is Karl Kugelbauer

He resisted all of the hefty counter-attacks

with his original ink signature

Footnote: Although the exact origin and meaning of this stick pin is unknown, it is possible that it belonged to one of the members of the German Minensucher Verein (Mine Seekers Association), established immediately following the Second War, to find, and destroy, any remaining sea mines from the war.
