Instituted on 8 January 1808 by Franz I of Austria. Post 1945 Manufacture by 1945. Constructed of silver, a Grand Cross sash badge consisting of a four armed cross with red and white enameled arms, obverse centre presenting raised initials F I A (For Franciscus Imperator Austriae) in gilt lettering, circumscribed an enameled white border inscribed by INTEGRITATI ET MERITO (For Integrity And Merit), reverse
