Constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a raised map of Crimea and southern Ukraine, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by dates 1941 1942, the reverse retaining one of four attachment prongs, securing the shield to a period original zink backer, unmarked, measuring 51. 79 mm (w) x 62. 02 mm (h), in addition to the missing prongs the shield has also lost its wool backer and
