The original is now part of the collection of the Suomen Kansallismuseo (Finnish National Museum) in Helsinki. It is classified as an Oakeshott type Xa, originally a Frankish sword type that remained popular well into the 13th century. The blade of the original bears the inscription +NSOMEFECIT+, with three other swords bearing the same inscription also found
