Morning Slumber - Medium Product:Small This piece was formed onIn the far north of Japan, on the island of Hokkaido, is a lake that was formed by volcanic activity some 6,000 years ago. Natural hot springs ring Lake Akan, creating warm areas along its shores which, in Hokkaido's bitter cold winters, remain unfrozen. These strips of warm water along its shore provide the perfect refuge for Whooper Swans to gather for their wintering site. These swans are so big and heavy that their legs cannot support their weight
